I'm a normal town-city girl in my twenties. Town-city girl? Yes, they are the one's who are confused whether to follow their heart, or stick to the conservative rules. Rules imposed by who, really? In my life, my Dad was a really out-of-the-world guy, who always took the 'road not taken'. He hated to sit and listen to people, but believed only his intelligence foremost. I guess I got that from dad. It is so happens, most often in our country, what is said by most, will either be the "safest option" but not particularly a smartest option. People here are scared to guts to take risks, to innovate and work on an idea, but yet, we've got so many engineers in our country. "Engineers" being synonymously taken in as "money-making machines", nothing else. How much 'creativity', and 'calculated risk-taking' can help us succeed is a thing to be learnt from other developed nations I needn't mention.
Now, boiling down the topic to its essence further more - 'safe option', and 'smart option'.
As glaringly visble in my blog as the title, 'Relationships' as in a marriage perspective are often been juggled between these two words: 'safe-option' or the 'smart-option'. Wait, let me first explain, a comparatively less-safer option can still turn out to be smart option, cant it? A smart-option is when you trust what you believe, and go ahead. When you give space for both your head and your heart. You do it, not just because you feel it could turn out right, but because you also believe it 'feels right'. I'm in no way support of all risk-takers, but still would be happy to see a few these days.
Back to my title, mmhmm, Relationships. Now we all know, what the 'safe-option' is - what we call the - Arranged marriage (Whatever!!). But is it really safe? What is done: Finding a guy suitable for the family 'status' is foremost, and the guy/girl's character (well, rofl) will be scrutinized. It undergoes various surgeries, depending on the parent's depth of concern and 'urgency' for the marriage to be done. Ya, and an absolute proof of certainty that this marriage will be successful is the 'birth-chart' matching! Credibility of which, is reader's choice!
We are not only damaging the youth's confidence and growing emotional-intelligence, but also assassinating a vital growth pattern of their life. Men and women complement each other in many aspects, which keeps changing in today's world, as roles are being shuffled everyday. Why to still stick to something, which is unhealthy? Men and women work together in various fields, conservatory rules don't work as far as professional life is concerned, why cant the same flexibility be brought to choosing the right spouse? As we have unsaid rules in business, certain etiquettes and mannerisms, such in parallel can be brought to our culture as well with regard getting to know the opposite gender better.
Being "open-minded" is one.
Attraction & Love are not 'bad ' terms, but something naturally gifted to each individual by God. How can it be denied to a normal individual in our country alone?
It is for the youth to decide what the smart-option is.
Get smart.
