My Last day of Life

(: Just before I start, No, I'm not suicidal. :)

As I was walking to my house from office today, humming a random tune and looking up the trees....a beautiful bright light lit the green leaves to a paler green-yellow tinge.  The beauty was so mesmerizing that it reminded me of death. Wow, you are loud, "Death???" , Yes!

You know what they say, when you die, you see a bright light, sort of a tunnel that leads you into a spiritual journey.....oooh. And so,

I made a small research on how it feels like to die. Is it horrible or sweet or solemn and peaceful? Before I let you know,

Note 1: We all are going to die someday, like it or not. So, this topic may be energizing and/or knowledgeable to some and not so to others. To the others - "Shoo Shoo!" and for the rest, go ahead and read.

Note 2: How did I make the research? Don't worry, I don't talk to spirits. I just google.

From what I learnt, God dammit, the whole world (if you think the Google is the whole world, like me) thinks I'm planning on dying. Well it helped in both ways, one: it taught me the various methods to die, two: coached me not to die or feel helpless. One helps those who are serious on kicking the bucket, well two just does what the logical human mind would do. Anyway, it was not very helpful for this topic which I wish to entertain you with. Please be pleased to know the depth of researching I had to do to convince Google - No, I'm not gonna die! Save me !!

Anyhow, so there I went bang on with few websites, with real people who shared their near death experiences. I learnt a few interesting things. The experience of near-death-experience various widely from person to person, depending on the nation, culture, technological advancement (!! I will get to that), etc,. Among them, a few are much in common.

When you die:
  • Some people, see light. A feeling of going through a tunnel.
  • Your last request from this Earth is - wanting to breathe...Oxygen!
  • Glimpses of your life flashing in front of you. (This is where technological advancement comes in)
It is noted down in Research that in Olden days, people used to see pictures of their life flashing in front of them, and in modern days, people see videos. Funny?  That is technologically advanced Death experience for you.
  •  When you die because of your disease, the sensation of the affected part will be last thing that you feel physically.
  • And almost all, experience peace...later on.
Today, my boss shared with me his Father's famous wordings - Nothing is to be worried about, if does not decapitate you. If it does, how can you worry about something after you have no head?

So, Death is like that. The final moments are filled with physical relief. I read in an article about a famous Queen in France who was decapitated by the Guillotine, and her decapitated head was actually smiling. No I'm not kidding, but I assure you she wasn't really happy about her decapitation, just a distorted facial expression I guess. This is an example which does not go with the point i'm trying to imply here, I know. If you are an ardent reader of my blog you would know that I often insert illogical and non-conceptual facts in my blogs. Before you forget, the point here is that your final final moments are filled with peace.

Going through various articles I find that, death experiences when sorted out create a battle between Science and Spirituality. Science tells you that, the light and tunneling effects are the tricks played by your visual cortex while it takes the last of oxygen it can find in your brain and is activated so much that you see a bright light. Nobody is actually opening Pearly Gates for you.

I seriously do not know about the flashes of life, but they do show it in movies, and few people have shared that sort of experience in the Internet. As the say, "When life flashes before you when you die, make sure it is worth watching!"

As for the Oxygen request by your lungs, you should know that Death - biological death is when your brain is dead. No Doctor will pronounce you dead if you just don't breathe or even if your heart stops. Medical science has improved so much that a person whose heart has stopped functioning CAN be brought back alive through electrical and chemical methods, like injecting epinephrine. You brain death is something which cannot be reverted. Neurons die in a matter of seconds without enough Oxygen supply. That Oxygen, is what you ask for....in your final moments.

Most people have experienced intense relief from physical pain in their last moments. When they were brought back to life, their quoted experience is that they actually did not want to come back. One had written in a blog, "It's like a kid being asked to come back home after a Vacation". What a Vacation!

So, in best of intentions, the Death is also something to be happy about in a way. God has inserted a surprise for us there too! Happy Dying?!

And, as for my Blog title, I wish that my final moments are passed in absolute happiness and peace. Like the feeling I get when I see pale green-yellow tinge of leaves when bright light passes through....Peaceful.
